DEFINITION |
| |
|
Kapilerin, is the mixture of Portland cement, high quality
silica sand and various active chemical substances. When it is
mixed with water and spread on the concrete, these active
chemicals do not dissolve in the water; instead they are formed
into crystals and penetrate deep into the concrete by osmotic
pressure. These fill the capillaries in the concrete and transform
the concrete into a water proof structure. POZZO-SHOCK, which is
composed of a special dry mixture and a special liquid, freezes in
a very short time and blocks the water. |
| |

ADVANTAGES |
| |
|
Kapilerin is not a coating material. Its approach towards
water insulation is to make the concrete a water proof
structure. It is not an additive and therefore the problems
which can occur during the placement of the concrete into the
cast is not a problem for Kapilerin. Kapilerin is applied onto
the finished concrete products with the help of a brush and it
makes that concrete impermeable.
|
| |
1-
APPLICABILITY TO FRESH CONCRETE |
| |
|
Kapilerin
requires water to function correctly. For application of
Kapilerin to very old and dry concrete, the surfaces of that
concrete shall be densely soaked with water. The results are
excellent when it is applied onto the fresh concrete surfaces.
|
| |
2-
SAME EXCELLENT RESULTS FOR BOTH NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE INSULATION
|
| |
|
The insulation
process is realized from inside, therefore there are no
differences for Kapilerin between the interior insulation of an
underground structure (negative insulation) and the exterior
insulation of a structure like terrace (positive insulation). A
water reservoir can be insulated from outside without emptying the
water inside the reservoir, also the basement floors of the
buildings can be insulated from inside under the ground. |
| |
3-
PROTECTS THE CONCRETE AND THE REINFORCEMENT |
| |
Kapilerin applied concrete becomes protected against various
chemical substances and negative impacts of harmful liquids like
sea water or waste water. Kapilerin prevents the corrosion of the
concrete due to these harmful substances and also it prevents the
decay of concrete due to alkaline or salts. It also protects the
reinforcement within the concrete and prevents its corrosion by
the same way. The problems of desquamation and elastic deformation
as a result of the expansion and contraction during freezing are
removed. |
| |
4-
DOES NOT REMOVE THE BREATHING FUNCTION OF THE CONCRETE |
| |
There are voids in the Kapilerin applied concrete from which
air can pass but water can not pass through. Therefore, the
concrete can continue to breath. This feature is very important.
Especially at the terrace roofs and reinforced concrete exterior
walls done by the tunnel cast, it solves the problem of
condensation and also removes the requirement to make steam
stabilizer. |
| |
5-
IT IS NOT TOXIC |
| |
There are no toxic substances in Kapilerin. It can be
utilized safely in water reservoirs, silos and food depots. |
| |
6-
IT CAN BE APPLIED FAST AND EASILY |
| |
There is no need
for plaster or grout on the surface to be applied and also there
is no need to any protective construction during the application.
The application process is simple and fast. It provides great time
saving. |
| |
7-
GUARANTEED FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE CONCRETE |
| |
The insulation is permanent unless the concrete structure is
cracked, drilled or braked. There is the risk of water entering
into the concrete for the coated structures but this problem is
not valid for Kapilerin applied structures even if they crack. Its
repair is very easy and it can be repaired even from the opposite
side of the crack. |
| |
8-
IT IS PROBLEM FREE |
| |
There are no problems like tears, punctures, folding from
joints, no adherence, and requirement of dry surfaces. |
| |
9-
IT IS THE LEAST COST METHOD |
| |
Besides the very low material costs, it does not require any
auxiliary materials like plaster or grout, etc. and with a minimum
number of workers large areas can be insulated. Therefore it is
the least cost water insulation method and has the maximum
guarantee conditions. |
| |

METHOD OF APPLICATION |
| |
|
|
Positive Insulation and Under Low Hydrostatic Pressure |
Volumetric 2
units of mixture shall be mixed with 1 unit water and applied.
Consumption rate is averagely 0.8 kg/m2 for one layer.
It shall be applied two layers. |
|
|
Negative Insulation and Under High Hydrostatic Pressure |
Volumetric 2 units of mixture shall be mixed with 1 unit
water and the first layer shall be applied. Same proportions shall
be applied once more after the first layer setting is finished.
Consumption rate is averagely 1.6 kg/m2. |
|
|
Surface Repairs |
Volumetric 3 units of mixture shall be mixed with 1 unit
water and applied. Consumption rate is averagely 1 kg/m2. |
|
|
At the cold pointings, concrete cracks and joints |
Volumetric 6 units of mixture shall be mixed with 1 unit
water and applied. Always, water shall be added into the Kapilerin.
The water to be used shall be clean.
There shall not be any dirt, grease or other foreign
substances on the surfaces which Kapilerin will be applied. For
the material to go deep into the capillaries, they shall be open.
Therefore, it will be better to apply HCl onto the surface if
required.
Cracks, segregations, concrete joints and weak concrete areas
shall be opened until reaching the strong concrete zones, one
layer of Kapilerin shall be applied and the structure shall be
repaired. The surroundings of the foreign materials (like wood,
reinforcement, etc) in the concrete shall be opened for a depth of
3-5 cm and shall be filled with Kapilerin.
If the application surface is dry, it shall be densely soaked
with water and then the excess water on the surface shall be
removed with the help of a sponge. Kapilerin shall be applied onto
this moisturized concrete surface. The application shall be done
with the help of a semi hard bristled brush which is also known as
Izmir Brush. It shall be ensured that the material is entirely
applied onto the surface.
In order to ensure that the material is settled in airless
medium, it will be beneficiary to circulate the air by a
ventilator or to blow hot air.
Spraying water onto the surface can be required at very dry
medium before applying the second layer. In the following 48 hours,
the surface shall be protected against water pressure before the
material is settled. It shall not be forgotten that Kapilerin
moves forward to water.
When the cold pointings are opened as 2x2 dimensions, the
consumption rate of the material used in the form of plaster is 1
kg/m.
It shall not be applied at the open surfaces during rain and
frost.
Please refer to the application manual for various types of
application methods.
You can get answer to your questions during the application
from our technical office. |
|
|

CURE |
| |
During the following 2-3 days after the application, water
shall be pulverized in the form of mist as cure. Water shall not
be stored within 10 days after the application in the areas where
water will be hold, like reservoir or pool, etc. |
